5. CARTRIDGE FILTER

CARTRIDGE FILTER CHANGE:
  1. If the differential pressure across the cartridge filters rises to 25 PSIG, the system will alarm and warn the operator that the filters should be replaced soon. If the differential pressure rises to 40 PSIG, the system will alarm and shut down until an operator changes the filter cartridges and resets the alarm. Cartridge filters can also be changed if the differential pressure is close to the alarm set point. Ideally, the filter cartridges should last at least 24hrs between changes.
  2. The system must be shut down prior to changing the filter cartridges. Either the alarm should be active or the operator should press the ESD button to stop the system.
  3. After the system has shut down, the filter isolation valves upstream and downstream of the filter vessels should be closed.
  4. The liquids in the vessel will need to be removed by opening the drain valve on the bottom of the vessel. This drain should be directed to a suitable drain location in the building.
  5. Then the vessel eyebolts can be opened and the lid can be swung open. There may be some residual water in the vessel piping and some water leakage is normal upon opening.
  6. Once the vessel is open, the filter cartridge can be removed from grasping the cartridge and pulling the cartridge upwards. The filter cartridge will need to be disposed of accordingly.
  7. New 5 micron filter cartridges should be installed into the filter vessel. The cartridge will need to be properly seated against the interior to ensure a proper fit.
  8. The lid on the vessels can be closed. Care should be taken to ensure the gaskets aren’t pinched between the lid and vessel housing.
  9. The eyebolts can be hand tightened down onto the vessel lid. Tighten the eyebolts down by hand in a cross pattern until snug. Over tightening the eyebolts isn’t required, just a snug fit between the lid and gasket is all that’s necessary.
  10. Open the upstream and downstream isolation valves.
  11. Pull the ESD button out and the system will automatically restart.
