11. GRUNDFOS AIR BLEED

The transfer pump P-210 and Clean-in-Place pump P-360 won’t function if there is any air trapped inside of the pump.  The transfer pump will require bleeding any time the water has been drained out of it.  Occasionally the Clean-in-Place pump will suck in air bubbles generated during the addition of acid to the cleaning solution and these will cause an air lock in the pump.  The pump will need to have the air removed before proper operation will resume.

AIR BLEEDING PROCEDURE
  1. Place the pumps Hand-Off-Auto switch to OFF, and turn off the pump breaker.
  2. Ensure that the liquid level in the tank that the pump draws from is above the top of the pump/motor coupling.
  3. Close the pump discharge valve.
  4. Locate the vent plug on the discharge side of the pump (small plug threaded into larger plug).
  5. Open the vent plug and allow the air to escape from the vent hole on the larger plug.
  6. Once a steady stream of water is coming out of the vent hole tighten the vent plug back up.
  7. Open the pump discharge valve.
  8. Turn on the pump breaker and place the pump back into AUTO.
